OUR CHURCH
A BRIEF HISTORY
The Point of Grace Community Church is a newer, fresh, and loving church that is committed to Christ and to you. We are a dynamic, non-denominational Christian Church of believers where you will find love, comfort, support, and spiritual guidance. At POG, we don't care what you look like, where you come from, or how many tattoos you have (or don't have!) We are all imperfect people, with every kind of story imaginable - each of us healing, learning, and growing together in the unconditional love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We trust you will quickly understand the friendship and feeling of belonging we experience here at The Point of Grace.
The Point of Grace Community Church is an independent church that was originally a branch of The Rescue House of Prayer Churches, Inc. that included churches in New Jersey, Delaware, Georgia, and Jamaica WI. The Rescue House of Prayer was the first church established by African Americans in South Plainfield, NJ and is now recognized by the South Plainfield Historical Society.
OUR NAME
POINT OF GRACE
OUR MOTTO
NOT A RELIGION,
A RELATIONSHIP!
We’ve got wonderful news! You are always at the point of grace! Grace is the unearned, unmerited favor of God and it is a gift freely given to everyone! Why does God do this for us? It's very simple - Love.
Here’s the thing. God is our Father and we are His children, whom He loves unconditionally. This is the relationship. But, the Bible says that we, like sheep, have gone astray. Nevertheless, God, in His infinite love towards us, took the most extraordinary measures to restore that relationship (John 3:16). By choosing to sacrifice His only begotten son Jesus, a path to reconciliation with Him has been made.
Therefore, no matter who you are, where you’ve been, or what you’ve done, you are always at the point of grace and at the start of the most beautiful and profound relationship imaginable.
That’s grace.
OUR PASTOR
WARREN D. ROBERTS, SR.
Pastor Roberts is the husband of his lovely wife, Evangelist Karen R. Roberts, our First Lady and a highly anointed woman of God. They have been married since 1986 and are the proud parents of three children; Ashli, Warren II and Paige.
Prior to relocating to Georgia, Elder Roberts had been a member of the Rescue House of Prayer church body since his early childhood. At the age of 16, Warren gave his life to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Ghost. He regularly cleaned the church, drove the church vans, and was faithful in serving the Lord. As a result of his faithfulness and loving service to the church and others, his former Pastor, the late Senior Overseer Campbell commissioned Brother Roberts to the office of Deacon. Warren received his ordination in 1984. Deacon Roberts was a leader in the Rescue House of Prayer prison ministry, actively supported the Recovery Ministry, and Bible study. In this office he began preaching and teaching the Word of God.
Always desiring to be the best that God required, he enrolled
in bible school where he received his Bachelor of Theology degree
from the Lighthouse Christian College in 1999.
In 1996 Senior Overseer Campbell commissioned him to lead
the RHP Unity Prayer Mission in Willingboro, NJ to which he
remained faithful for 10 years. In 1995, Dr. Campbell, being l
ed by God, spoke to Deacon Roberts about becoming an Elder.
Never seeking higher office, just a closer walk with God,
Deacon Roberts continued in prayer and fasting. It was not
until two years later that Deacon Roberts accepted the call on
his life and was appointed and ordained as an Elder in 1997.
Elder Roberts is known as a man that brings comfort, guidance, leadership and knowledge to the church and as a result his Pastor commissioned him to Georgia to open another branch of the Rescue House of Prayer which is now Point of Grace Community Church.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
GOD
God is love. We believe that there is only one true and living God. God is the creator and ruler of the universe, the heavens, the earth, the air, the seas, planets, moons, stars, animals, you, me and everything. We believe that man is the supreme object of God’s creation and is made in the likeness and image of God. God has eternally existed, has all power, all knowledge and is ever-present. God is sovereign in all things and entirely worthy of all worship, honor and praise.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ is the son of God having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. He has been given all power by God the Father. We also believe that Jesus is the mediator between God and man and that no one can come to the Father except by Him. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
HOLY SPIRIT / HOLY GHOST
We believe the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost are one in the same. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is with us all at all times. However, when the Holy Spirit becomes in-dwelling we refer to it as the Holy Ghost. All believers are encouraged to strive to receive the Holy Ghost (be filled with the Holy Ghost). The Holy Ghost abides within individuals who have diligently separated themselves from sinful living through conscious efforts, prayer and reading God’s word. The Holy Ghost provides the Christian with power for righteous living, understanding of spiritual truths and guidance in doing what is right.
BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the true, inspired, infallible word of God. It was written by human authors, under the divine guidance of the Holy Ghost. It is God’s revelation of himself to humanity, our final authority and is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. The Bible, every book, is centered on or a revelation of Jesus.
SALVATION
We believe salvation is the deliverance from sin and its consequences. Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sins by self-improvement or good works. Salvation is found in no other name but the name of Jesus and begins the moment one confesses with their mouth and believes in their hearts that Jesus Christ is Lord.
ETERNITY
We believe in eternal life through Jesus Christ. We believe in the existence of Heaven and Hell. Although the body dies our souls were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin (Hell) or exist in union with God through forgiveness and salvation (Heaven).
BAPTISM
We believe Baptism by immersion in water symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ.
COMMUNION
Communion or the Lords Supper is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember the sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The element of bread and wine (or juice) are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means to salvation. Rather it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
Jesus said this,
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hand all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:26-30
We must take the responsibility of being a church member seriously. We must be obedient to God and to the leaders he has appointed. Through membership, our lives are spiritually connected with the lives of other members. Subsequently, we are now committed to spiritual growth, service to others, financial stewardship.
Members are encouraged to:
-
Grow spiritually through faithful church attendance, prayer meetings, and bible study. (Discipleship)
-
Serve the Lord by volunteering in some capacity in the Church. (Stewardship)
-
Serve the community and those in need through Acts of Random Kindness (ARK project) and other forms of service.
-
Be effective witnesses (Evangelism)
-
Give tithes and offerings to the Lord.
