POGCC Performing Art Department presents....
Honoring God
with our
First Fruits

On Sunday, January 1,2022, members and friends of POG will bring their sacrificial "first fruits" offering to reverence God by prioritizing Him in our finances and giving. The offering is also an expression of thanksgiving to God for all He has provided the past year and a demonstration of faith and trust that God will continue to provide.

The concept of firstfruits is rooted in biblical times when people lived in an agrarian or farming society. God called his people to bring the first yield—the first fruits—from their harvest to him as an offering. This was to demonstrate obedience and reverence for God, thanksgiving for the provision He has made, and to show that they trusted God to provide enough crops to feed their families.

Although we no longer live in an agrarian-based society, the idea of firstfruits giving is still relevant. Today, instead of the literal harvest, the firstfruits means a portion of our income, wealth, or blessings that we have received over the past year.

Whenever you decide to make a first fruit offering, the important thing is to understand that it is a type of worship and should be done freely, with no guilt or obligation. Before giving, one should pray and consult God on the amount, as we are to be good stewards of blessings He has given us.

To God be the glory for the things He has done!
